Pastor Cindy L. Banks is a passionate servant leader who has been faithfully serving the Baltimore-Washington Conference (BWC) of The United Methodist Church for 18 years. She is newly appointed to the Pasadena Cooperative Parish, serving Magothy United Methodist Church and Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Pasadena, Maryland.
Before her new appointment, Pastor Cindy served as the pastor of In His Service Community Ministry and the Chicamuxen Charge in Bryans Road, Maryland, where she built thriving ministries rooted in Christ’s call to love and serve all people. Her leadership fostered deep community engagement, spiritual growth, and a strong spirit of connection among the congregations.
Pastor Cindy’s ministry has been shaped by her Episcopalian roots and nurtured in the rich soil of United Methodism through her spiritual home at Metropolitan UMC in Pomonkey, Maryland. She continues to deepen her theological foundation through study at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
Driven by a heart for all God’s children, Pastor Cindy has founded impactful ministries such as Embracing All God’s People, a ministry focused on welcoming and uplifting individuals with developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Her outreach extends to feeding the community, building strong partnerships with local schools to provide students with school supplies, essential clothing, and encouragement, and—most centrally—making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Pastor Cindy proudly identifies as a Matthew 25 pastor, living out Jesus’ call: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”(Matthew 25:35–36) She believes that in serving the least of these, we serve Christ Himself: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”(Matthew 25:40)
Her personal life reflects the same spirit of love and commitment she brings to her ministry. Pastor Cindy is a faithful daughter, devoted mother of four, and proud grandmother of ten precious gifts from God. She cherishes the memory of her beloved husband, Pastor Jacques T. Banks, whose legacy continues to inspire her life and service.
Before answering the call to full-time ministry, Pastor Cindy spent over 25 years working in the healthcare industry, where her compassion for others was evident long before it became the hallmark of her pastoral leadership.
At the heart of her ministry is a deep trust in God’s leading, grounded in her life verse, Psalm 25:4–6: “Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving kindnesses.”
With unwavering faith, a heart for the community, and a vision for Embracing All God’s People. Pastor Cindy looks forward to serving faithfully in her new ministry field, building bridges of hope, healing, and faith in Pasadena and beyond, and is ready to meet you!
